A tournament section including asana, chanting and vinyasa contests will allow participants to be rated and judged by the same group of world class masters. With cash & prizes valued over HK$80,000, the tournament is a great opportunity to challenge yourself and gain a better understanding of where you stand among fellow yoga lovers. You can join selective contests or all of them to challenge the Grand Yoga Gala Cup. You can also participate as a spectator and cheer for your yoga pal.
Perform 3 designated postures which will be chosen by the panel of judges on day of tournament from the Ananda Cup Standard Asana List
Contestants will be notified of the 3 designated postures at least 1 hour before tournament starts
Perform 2 self-chosen postures
For both designated and self-chosen postures, if the posture involves 2 sides (left and right), need to perform both sides
Contestants are required to hold each pose for 8 seconds. If two sides, hold each side for 8 seconds
Judging Criteria:
Contestants will be judged based on:
Accuracy (accurately perform all the requirements of the posture)
Poise (gracefully perform the posture from beginning to end, with a beautiful shape and form)
Steadiness (able to hold the posture in a stable and sound manner)
Breathing (Proper breathing to go with the asana, long and deep instead of short and quick)
Difficulty level (only apply to self-chosen postures)
Groups:
Group 1: Age 12 - 25
Group 2: Age 26 - 40
Group 3: Above 40
Group 4: Kids Age 6 - 11

There will be a champion, first runner-up and second runner-up for each group.
Champion: Cash prize HK$5,000 + Cup

Yoga Vinyasa Contest

Contents:
Contests can freely choreograph a 3-minute flow of postures
The series of postures must include the following type of poses:
standing poses
sitting poses
forward bending poses
back bending poses
twisting poses
balancing poses
inversion
The contestant will be prompted when there is only 15 seconds left
The sequence must stop at 3 minutes. Marks will be deducted if performance is over 3 minutes
Judging Criteria:
Contestants will be judged based on:
Completeness (all the required types of poses are incorporated in the flow)
Poise (gracefully perform the posture from beginning to end, with a beautiful shape and form)
Steadiness (able to hold the posture in a stable manner)
Breathing (Proper breathing to go with the asana, long and deep instead of short and quick)
Timing - the flow is completed well within the 3 minutes timeframe
Smoothness of the flow (smooth transition between postures, beautiful flow of movements)
Difficulty level of the sequence
Creativity level of the sequence

Yoga Chanting Contest

Chant "OM" in one breath
Judging Criteria:
Performance will be based on decibel of the chant and the duration of the chant in seconds. The contestant with the maximum decibels + seconds will win
The chant must be of a minimum duration of 15 seconds
Prizes:
There will be a champion, first runner-up and second runner-up
Champion: Cash prize HK$3,000 + cup
First runner-up: Cash prize $1,500 + medal
Second runner-up: Cash prize $600 + medal
Grand Yoga Gala Cup
There will be a Grand Yoga Gala Champion Cup and a cash prize of HK$10,000 for the contestants who participate in ALL the contests (either of the Ananda Cup and Samadhi Cup Asana Tournament + Yoga Chanting Contest + Yoga Vinyasa Contest) and score the highest marks.
Rules and regulations:
Arrive on time and report to marshal at least half an hour before tournament commences.
Wear tight outfit which can reveal the body line. Loose tees and pants not allowed.
For the Ananda Cup Asana Tournament, Samadhi Cup Asana Tournament and the Yoga Vinyasa Contests, the participant must perform the postures bare feet.
All postures have to be performed on the mattress supplied by the tournament authority. (An Airex brand 10mm thick yoga mat)
